SHROUD OF TURIN AUTHENTIC

Page history last edited by Byron LeBeau 4 mos ago

BEFORE READING THE BELOW "AUTHENTIC" EVIDENCE FOR THE SHROUD, PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM AND READ THE """CAVEAT""" TO THE INFORMATION PRESENTED ON THIS PAGE; I just became aware of this, but since it is based on the New Testament, it must be juxtaposed to any information about this intruguing linen cloth.

Thank you,

DON'T BELIEVE THE INSPECTOR! Please review the work of an esteemed medical doctor who was a Professor Emeritus of Duke University, Doctor Alan Whanger, and what he has examined over the years about this very unusual artifact which he believes has been left for the modern day DOUBTING THOMASES of this world.

GO TO THE LINK BELOW FOR AN INTRODUCTION INTO HIS WORK:

ALSO for an interesting interview with Dr. Whanger, please review Lynn Marzulli's new book, THE ALIEN INTERVIEWS: Conversations with People Who Experienced UFO Contacts.

POTENTIAL SCRIPTURAL CAVEAT re: Shroud of Turin

********************************************************************************

What the New Testament says about dead people and how they are wrapped:

LUKE 24:12 indicates that Peter looked into the tomb where Jesus was and noticed linen cloths (plural.)

JOHN 11:44 shows that when Lazarus was raised from the dead, he was wearing bandages (strips) around his body and his head was wrapped in a cloth; this was the custom of the Jews.

The Gospel of John (20:4-7) describes what Jesus was wrapped in. CONSIDER!

"They both ran, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first; and stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in.  Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; he saw the linen cloths lying, and the napkin, which had been on the head, not lying with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself."

QUESTION: If the shroud and the headpiece are supposedly the exact duplication of the burial cloth of Jesus, how come Holy Scripture mentions more than one linen cloth (three times) in the above citation plus the headpiece?

[SOURCE: I wish to thank Dr. Jonathan Sarfati for pointing out these Biblical details as suggestive evidence that the Shroud could not be what is being claimed to be...which may make one wonder: the hoax may be extremely more complicated than one could possibly imagine...but...whatever it turns out to be, it seems to contradict scripture ~~ so BEWARE!]

Actual wording from CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL from their website, CREATION ON THE WEB, as it relates to THE SHROUD:

The carbon-dating tests may be inaccurate, but a more serious doubt to the cloth’s authenticity is found in Scripture. It is clear in the New Testament and from Jewish burial customs that several pieces of cloth were used in Christ’s burial-not one large sheet like the shroud. In John 20:5-7 we see that there was a separate piece wrapped about Christ’s head-yet the Shroud of Turin depicts a face on the sheet. Scripture indicates that Jesus was bound with linen strips, not wrapped with a cloth (see John 19.-40). These and other- problems apart from the carbon-dating results seem to indicate that great caution should be used in accepting the shroud as genuinely having wrapped the body of Christ.

Some final thoughts on "authenticity."

To say that something is authentic implies that it is both real and truthful; when you read the evidence on THE SHROUD, it indeed looks like it is real (that is, not a Medieval hoax,) but since the New Testament gospels seem to indicate that this massive fourteen foot long cloth were a group of "linen strips" and the customary way Jews buried people (as with Lazarus, for instance) was by using strip-like bandages to wrap him in, it becomes clear (at least to me) that someone with great knowledge and skill was trying to mimic what should be considered a sacred "remembrance" but for what purpose?  And who - if not for a good purpose - could pull off such a feat of excellence with such precision?

The only answer I could deduce was Satan himself, who wished (for purposes that are still not readily clear,) to perpetrate such a very real hoax with intent to deceive mankind about its true origen, making it authentic with an * or asterisk!

This is a very good post. I figured this out but by different means....but it's comforting to hear your finds add more proof of my thoughts on this subject.
Dr. Joyes works about the Shroud of Turin also plays an important role in my understanding of the real truth behind the mystery.

Thank you Byron:)

Stay Blessed,
Georgia
