DOUBLE PROMISE OF GOD
The Lord is with you, because you have been with him. If you seek him, you shall find, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. (2 Chronicles Paralipomenon 15:2)
These words were spoken to a man named Asa, who, in essence, represents ALL MEN. Since the God of Israel tells the prototype story for ALL MEN, then it is very important (if we truly believe,) to take what it says in the Holy Scripture seriously!
What it is saying, very plainly, (and verified by the Christ in the New Testament,) is that we should constantly be seeking the truth of God, never stopping to seek. Search the scriptures! If we do this in all earnestness, the promise is: WE SHALL FIND HIM!
The flip-side of the coin is promise #2: If we do not seek Him in all earnestness, then it is only our own fault if He forsakes us...since the living God (who wishes all men to be saved,) loves a lover! Anyone who chooses STRANGE GODS for the answers to the questions of life (like going to fortune tellers, for instance,) has, in essence, forsaken the true God, prefering to rely on the shallowness of mere men, who posture themselves as being special.
This is the challenge for all men - its theme clearly repeated again and again in the Holy Scripture for anyone with eyes that can see, and ears that can hear! The choices people made thousands of years ago - still apply in today's humanistic secular world. THERE IS NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN!
