AN OPEN LETTER TO MY FRIENDS

A OPEN LETTER TO M DEAR FRIENDS.....

It is now Saturday, April 24h, and I have just listened to CNBR and A Call to Arms....Since I cannot speak too well these days, I still have the strength to cyber-pen and while I have this window between hospitals and 'knife day," I thought it appropriate to pen what I have witnessed since about April 19th, a day when I had to check myself into a hospital as a preventive means of sustaining my health while trying to ward-off potential infection as well as build my immune system up for the series of battles ahead.

I stayed in the hospital (local) for three full days, taking as many tests that I could that I knew would be required of me before a discussion of any operation could be planned and executed.  There was much health-related red-tape I had to wade through - even to get the rigth specialist under the scope of my insurance that could handle such a complicated case such as mine....

The first specialist I went to promised to help me, and actually called the proverbial one in a hundred possible candidates - who said: I CAN HELP BYRON:-)

This led me to a wonderful doctor at NY EYE & EAR...who in conjunction with a fine plastic surgeon, would be able to perform the operation; however, this required planning & reliance on my whole family, of which I was truly blessed with. This needs some explanation:

I was growing very weak from the draining cancer (which had now manifested for at least a month or more, I am not sure,) but when I check out of the local hospital, I did not have the strength to go to THE BIG CITY...alone, so my dear brother Michael, came down, and drove me back to an apartment that my third son Peter (with his cousin Daniel) occupied.  They made me feel at home and would not take a penny for all that they did, which I found was the same of everybody in my family. My second son Matthew, said it as succinctly as one can: It is not hospitable to accept money for helping ones kin....

When I had my second office visit with the doctor who would perform the operation (now scheduled for MAY 5TH,) he asked me if I felt apprehensive about the coming operation, to which I replied, No, since it is my deep belief that having total reliance on the Father , the Son, and the Holy Spirit, negates any of that stuff - and that this is the core of my "religion," my total reliance on same! This doctor dd not disagree with my assessment.

I also reflected on my other "reliance" factor of which I was blessed: Whatever I could not do would be taken up COMPLETELY by my four boys, my brother, my wife and my nephews; In this opening salvo I witnessed with my own eyes how this played out: My oldest son, Mark, (Lieut. in the NYFD.,) multi-tasked and coordinated all my initial doctor and test-related visits, which was not easy, especially trying to negotiate the myriad of hurdles one encounters scheduling appointments in NYC proper.  Luckily for me, he could drop me at the door and park relatively close because of his status with the NYFD........

My second son, Matthew arranged to drive me all the way back home, despite the fact that his daughter had an early morning game the next day....My fourth son David, actually called the doctor to make sure I could see him SOONER, and (wouldn't you know,) the Friday April 23rd appointment became Monday April 19th, which only materialized while I was in the local hospital: THIS ITSELF WAS A GOD-SENT MIRACLE, because when you have a live cancer in your mouth, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE.

So far my tests have been good, and the PET-SCAN showed that the cancer has not spread.  The last hurdle I need to undergo next week is a STRESS TEST, which should qualify me for the grueling 14 hour operation. Needless to say, my family I can rely on again to be there for me since it is hard for me to drive in my present condition (under pain medication, etc.,) so my reliance on the Father , the Son and Holy Spirit has "manifested" through my whole family....

I just wanted to give my friends, and those who care about me some BIRD'S EYE VIEW OF WHAT I MEAN BY THE RELIANCE FACTOR:-)

A Call to Arms.....

I was most impressed with the insightful words of Greg Messina, Kevin Unterberger, Zen Garcia & Sheila Broughton. Each one helped to shore-me-up in my coming battle, and only a fool would not see it as a spiritual battle that we just cannot see completely, since a lifting of the veil would be necessary.  They all spoke to the necessity of and the power in praying, and, of course, to ALWAYS BE READY & ALERT!  This is spiritual warfare, and we cannot let our guard dow - even for a minute, even to the taking captive of every idle thought...Something which I am trying to master on the road to justification and sanctification - the road less traveled - filled with suffering and travail, but necessary for all true believers as sons and daughters of the Father....

As Kevin said toward the end: Take the time to try to understand THE WORD!  Greg said: Read THE WORD & BE IN THE WORD....

Yes, I was very heartened to know I have friends like these, and those who also have gotten this email.....

God-willing-I will be back
